Volunteer FAQ

How many shifts do I have to work and for how many hours?

A: We ask that volunteers work 3 shifts over the course of the tournament, which range from 4–6 hours each depending on the committee.

Do I need to be a golfer or have golf knowledge to volunteer?

No, you do not! We have several different committees to choose from that do not require any golf knowledge. To see the full list of available committees, CLICK HERE. Training is provided for all committees.

Is there a minimum age to volunteer?

A: Yes, you must be 18 years or older to volunteer. Junior ages 13-17 can sign up to be a Junior Volunteer and serve as a Standard Bearer.

Is there a fee to volunteer?

A: No, there is no fee. Volunteers will receive a volunteer package that includes the following:

  • Official tournament polo
  • Tournament hat
  • Volunteer Credential – Access to the tournament on all days open
  • Lunch during the days you work
  • Two (2) grounds tickets
How do I get my volunteer package?

A: Volunteer packages may be picked up at Volunteer Orientation. Orientation will take place Saturday, October 12th at the Fairmont Southampton. Click Here to view your scheduled orientation time. If you do not live in Bermuda, you will be able to pick up your uniform package at the Volunteer Headquarter Tent prior to your first shift. Please plan accordingly.

What do I wear with my uniform?

A: Bermuda shorts in any color may be worn with the volunteer uniform. If you do not own Bermuda shorts, we ask that you wear khaki bottoms. Men can wear khaki pants or shorts. Ladies can wear khaki capris, pants, or knee length shorts or skorts. No jeans or cargo-style shorts. Tournament hats only, please

Can I be scheduled (shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?

A: We will make every effort to accommodate your scheduling requests if you both are signed up for the SAME committee. Make sure to list your request on your registration form and select similar availability to the person you wish to work with during the tournament.

How will I know my Committee Assignment?

A: Once you’ve successfully completed your online registration, you will receive an email confirming your selection as a volunteer. Committee assignments will begin on or before September 15th and you will receive an email confirming your placement based on the preferences you selected when registering. Committee assignments are available on a first come, first serve basis and are subject to change.

How do I know my schedule? And when will I receive my schedule?

A: We ask you to help create your schedule by completing your availability during volunteer registration. Your Chairman will then make the committee schedule based on your availablility. Schedules will be available for viewing via your online profile no later than October 1st, 2019.

Are meals provided?

A: Lunch will be provided only to the volunteers who are on shift that day.

Where do I park?

A: All volunteers and spectators will be parking at White Hill Field. You will then be transported by bus to the Main Entrance. CLICK HERE For Google Maps Directions.

What happens if it rains?

A: The event will go on and we will need your help! Make sure to report to your committee’s check-in location 30 minutes prior to your shift, rain or shine, unless you hear alternate instructions from your chairman.

Can I watch golf when I am not working?

A: Yes, your credential is valid for regular Grounds Admission the entire week and we encourage you to do so.  We ask that you only wear your volunteer uniform shirt at the tournament while on shift.
